Placement Site Partnerships

What are some of the potential placement sites?

Hospice House – the Josie Harper Residence

Hospice House provides services for people needing hospice care.  The Volunteer would be their volunteer coordinator.  Tasks would include recruiting, educating, supporting, scheduling, and appreciating Hospice House volunteers.  They would facilitate activities for residents and families.  They would also have opportunities to spend meaningful time with residents and families.

Project Hope

Project Hope is a food pantry in North Omaha.  It is a small pantry, so the Volunteer would be serving as one of three full time staff.  They would be taking the position of the Pantry Specialist which is responsible for processing pantry donations and inventory, assist clients, collect client data, and assist with office tasks and special projects

Kids Can Community Center

Kids Can Community Center’s mission is to educate, engage and inspire children through early childhood care and out-of-school experiences.  They have two potential positions.  One is the Out-of-School Member Specialist who would work with leadership to implement the daily educational program for children.  Programming is held at 7 elementary schools and the community center itself.  The other position is the Early Childhood Member Specialist.  They would work with the teaching staff to implement the daily educational program for children.

Nelson Mandela Elementary School and Early Childhood Development Center.

This school serves North Omaha students and is located one block from Hillstrom House.  Volunteers would be working with the administration to coordinate parent volunteers and other communications work.  There will be a position at the school and one at the ECDC.

City Sprouts

City Sprouts helps cultivate healthy communities and sustainable, equitable food systems through gardening, education, and youth employment.  They maintain gardens, teach classes and partner with food banks to get fresh food out into the community.  The Volunteer could either take a position on the farm, or a position in administration coordinating programs.  This is a new partnership this year so many details are still in the works.
